Experimental study on thermal performance of a new type solar air collector with colored facade in winter

Presents an advanced solar air collector with colored facade (SCCF) which has double effects of heating and cooling and can also be used as an insulated plate during night in cold winter to reduce heat loss from windows. Experimentally studies the thermal performance and heating effect of this device installed in a residence under several different conditions. The results show that the air temperature difference of SCCF at the air inlet/outlet can reach to 38 ℃, average indoor temperature of the tested room with SCCF (5 m2) is about 3 to 5 ℃ higher than the reference room, and the average external surface temperature of window with SCCF at night is 2.1 ℃ higher than that without SCCF.
